Common Questions

Q: My Image will not stick to shirt?

A: Check Temperature and Pressure you are applying when pressing. Temperature and Pressure are the number one issues of why DTF will not stick, wrinkles after wash or peels. Firm EVEN pressure and correct temperature is critical for DTF to stick to Fabric correctly.

Q: I see bubbles in my image?

A: Those are no harm, it is the image releasing from the film as they are in Instant Peel film and not much sticking is there. Once pressed it will be gone.

Q: I see small snowflakes in my black and dark colors of my transfers?

A: Those too are not a issue, there are 8-10 layers in the DTF Film and they will hold moisture depending on climate. Once pressed they will disappear as they are only present in the actual film not the print itself.

What is DTF?

Direct to Film (DTF) printing is a relatively new printing technique used primarily in the apparel and fashion industries. Here's how it works and its key features:

How DTF Printing Works:

  1. Design Creation: The design is created digitally using graphic design software.
  2. Printing: The design is printed onto a special transfer film using DTF printers, which utilize water-based inks. This allows for vibrant, high-quality prints.
  3. Powder Application: After printing, a heat-activated adhesive powder is applied to the printed design on the film.
  4. Curing: The film is then passed through a heat source to cure the adhesive, helping it bond with the ink.
  5. Transfer: The film is placed against the fabric and heat is applied with a heat press, transferring the ink and adhesive onto the material.
  6. Final Touch: Instantly peel the film away, leaving the design firmly embedded in the fabric.

Key Features of DTF Printing:

  • Color Vibrancy: DTF offers a wide color gamut, resulting in bright, eye-catching prints.
  • Detail and Precision: The technique allows for high resolution and intricate detail and complex designs.
  • Versatility: DTF can be used on various materials, including cotton, polyester, and blends, making it suitable for diverse applications like t-shirts, bags, and custom apparel.
  • Durability: Printed designs are resistant to fading and cracking, maintaining their quality through multiple washes.
  • Cost-Effective: DTF is an economical choice for short runs and custom orders, allowing brands to produce designs on demand without high setup costs.

DTF printing stands out as a flexible option, making it popular among custom print businesses and designers looking for high-quality results. If you're interested in specific applications or have more questions about the process, feel free to ask!
